About Me

Hi, I’m Hope — also known as That Scottish Blind Girl™.

I’m a deafblind, neurodiverse, ambulatory wheelchair user who shares real experiences of navigating the world with multiple disabilities. My journey online began because I couldn’t find anyone my age openly talking about the same combination of challenges I faced every day especially challenges many people assume only affect those in much later stages of life.

I created That Scottish Blind Girl™ to change that by building a space to:

  • talk honestly about disability

  • make the invisible visible

  • offer the representation I never saw growing up

My work focuses on sharing lived-experience insight as a disabled person from mobility and sensory needs to access barriers and the everyday realities of life as a disabled indvidual.

My goal is to help others feel less alone while supporting organisations to understand that accessibility isn’t optional - it’s essential.

Accessibility works best when rooted in the ethos of universal design, meaning it not only improves the lives of disabled people, but benefits everyone.

Alongside my lived experience, I hold a Business Studies degree and a Master’s in International Conflict & Cooperation, which help shape how I approach communication, systems, and inclusive thinking.

This website is a home for my writing, resources, updates, and the advocacy work that matters deeply to me.

Thanks for being here.
